A great chance, just once each year, to experience the essence of Antarctica in a short cruise and then fly back on a 60 passenger chartered commercial jet to Punta Arenas. The ship leaves from Ushuaia, sails though the Beagle Channel to Cape Horn and then crosses to Antarctica, visiting the South Shetland Islands and King George Island.

Day 1: Embark in Ushuaia
In Ushuaia, Argentina, embarking on the Ocean Nova and sailing along the Beagle Channel to Pto. Williams, the southernmost town in Chile

Days 2 - 3: Cape Horn - Drake Passage
In front of the mythical Cape Horn and weather permitting, disembarking on the most legendary Island in the world. Afterward, sailing across the Drake Passage escorted by albatrosses and giants petrels. Lectures given by our Antarctic experts, and searching for Humpback and Minke whales.

Day 4: South Shetland Islands
Spotting of the first iceberg while approaching the South Shetland Islands for our first Antarctic landing. Exploration will continue all evening, thanks to the endless daylight.

Day 5: King George Island - Fly out from Punta Arenas
Arrival to King George Island, and disembark to visit the Chilean Frei Base and its surroundings. Boarding on the flight to Punta Arenas, Chile.

Note about the flights:
You will be flying with a 60 passenger British Aerospace BAe 146-200, designed for short take off and landings and suitable for Antarctic conditions. It is operated by Aerovias DAP, a Chilean commercial airline with over 25 years of commercial experience flying around Patagonia, to the Falklands, and to Antarctica.
