A completely novel cruise, where you fly in a commercial jet from Punta Arenas across to the Antarctic, join the expedition ship and start cruising the continent immediately without days crossing the Drake Passage. At the end you simply fly back.

Day 1: Arrive in Punta Arenas
Arrival to Punta Arenas city and reception by Antarctica XXI staff. Transfer to the selected hotel. During the afternoon, briefing about of the guidelines to follow in Antarctica. Welcome dinner.

Day 2: King George Island - Embarkation on board the Ocean Nova
Beginning of our Antarctic adventure with the flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island. The flight takes a little over one and a half hour. Upon arrival, visit of the Chilean Base Frei and the surrounding area. Embarkation by Zodiac boat on board the Ocean Nova.

Days 3 - 6: South Shetland Islands - Antarctic Peninsula
Sailing between the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, along fjords and icebergs, enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Visit to some of the most magnificent spots such as Livingston Island, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Cuverville and Deception Island amongst others. Our target, the Laimere Channel, latitude 65° South.

Day 7: King George Island - Fly out from Punta Arenas
Return to King George Island and disembark at Frei Base to board on the flight back to Punta Arenas.


Note about the flights
You will be flying with a 60 passenger British Aerospace BAe 146-200, designed for short take off and landings and suitable for Antarctic conditions. It is operated by Aerovias DAP, a Chilean commercial airline with over 20 years of commercial experience flying around Patagonia, to the Falklands, and to Antarctica.
